a)   Illness or injury is documented with a letter from a doctor detailing the nature and duration of the illness or injury.

b)   School or work conflicts to Team Trials qualification are documented with a letter from school or employer furnished to the Team Support Committee prior to the qualifier in question.

c)   Proper Prior Planning on the part of the athlete to minimize conflicts regarding training and racing schedules is demonstrated to the Team Support Committee in writing by the athlete.

3)   The Team Support Committee will consider the overall merit of a given petition. The Team Support Committee shall seek additional input from knowledgeable persons such as the National Team Coaching Staff, Club Coaches, and USAWS Divisional Representatives.
