d.   By Written Petition to the USACK Slalom Sports Division Team Support Committee

 

1)   Athletes must petition in writing to the USA Whitewater Slalom (USAWS) Team Support Committee Chair (Amy Dingle at dingle_a@hocking.edu), with petitions received on or before May 27 2005. The Chair will poll the Team Support Committee, with a decision reached by majority vote and reasons provided in writing in the event of a negative vote.

 

2)   Written petitions to the Team Support Committee, in the case of injury or other extenuating circumstances having prevented qualification for Team Trials, will be seriously considered when:


a)   Illness or injury is documented with a letter from a doctor detailing the nature and duration of the illness or injury.


b)   School or work conflicts to Team Trials qualification are documented with a letter from school or employer furnished to the Team Support Committee prior to the qualifier in question.


c)   Proper Prior Planning on the part of the athlete to minimize conflicts regarding training and racing schedules is demonstrated to the Team Support Committee in writing by the athlete.
 

3)   The Team Support Committee will consider the overall merit of a given petition. The Team Support Committee shall seek additional input from knowledgeable persons such as the National Team Coaching Staff, Club Coaches, and USAWS Divisional Representatives.
